3D Animation, Video & Special Effects

Well, I never was able to realize my dream of going to Hollywood and becoming the next motion picture special effects superstar, but I have been able to work in the medium and have some fun. Between freelance projects and my full-time jobs, I have had the pleasure of working on some great video projects and put together some really fun 3D animation sequences.

Most recently, my job at Holophane has provided me some great opportunities for coming up with some very interesting, informational and entertaining video productions for both external marketing and internal communications purposes. This section of my site will allow you to keep up with what I've been doing lately with animation, video, special effects and other compositing techniques.

Tools of the Trade

Producing complex video and animation sequences requires some very high end and quite expensive software applications... not to mention the heavy hardware requirements.

I do all my 3D modeling and animation with NewTek's "Lightwave" application. Special video effects & compositing are done in Adobe "After Effects". Audio sampling and effects are done in Adobe "Audition" while final editing is done with Adobe "Premiere."

And, finally when DVD is the targeted delivery platform, all DVD authoring is done with Adobe "Encore DVD."

Of course, standard 2D graphics are produced with industry standard workhorse applications Adobe "Photoshop" and "Illustrator."
